🦿⚽️ Amputee football is much more than a sport. It is a powerful tool for physical rehabilitation, psychological reconstruction and social reintegration. It enables amputees, mostly but not exclusively injured veterans, to rediscover a sense of purpose, teammates and belonging.
🇺🇦 This Spring Cup has confirmed one essential thing: the momentum is there. Demand is strong, the needs are, unfortunately, real, and the potential is immense. It has become the national showcase for the sport in Ukraine, a key event for its visibility and development.
That's why we're committed to stepping up our efforts: helping to create new clubs, extending the sport to other regions, and enabling every amputee (and every female player) to find a team close to home.
The Cup was broadcast live on the Federation's YouTube channel, to reach as wide an audience as possible. But above all, and this is the very heart of the Cup and the UAmpFoot programme, the event has enabled many amputees to discover this sport and, perhaps one day, to join this great family.
💪 Amputee football in Ukraine is a tight-knit, resilient and inspiring community, and it's only just beginning to grow. Unfortunately, with nearly 100,000 amputees as a result of the war, the need is immense.
