Alexander contacted us on May 8th 2022. He was looking for a solution to evacuate his wife and child, who is in a wheelchair. Accompanied by another family composed of a parent and a young adult with Down syndrome, they were trying to leave Kyiv, the city in which they found refuge in order to escape the combat zones.
After contacting the French association Arche, which welcomes people with mental disabilities in shared and independent accommodation, our priority was to guarantee a safe journey between Kyiv and Dijon.
The evacuation was unexpectedly interrupted following the breakdown of the vehicle in Ukraine.
Our objective: to cover the costs of the repair amounting to €800 euros and to find emergency accommodation for the families.
Once the vehicle was repaired, the two families were able to go to Dijon, where they found refuge in independent accommodation. The families still live in Dijon.
