After Kyiv, the journey of French clown JyJou and Nataliia Piskova, coordinator of The Small Projects Team in Kyiv, took them to the Berizky Artistic Lyceum, a boarding school in the Mykolaïv region. The school caters for around 170 children aged between 3 and 18. These children live on site throughout the school year, making the school not only a place of learning, but also a real home.
The pupils include children from a variety of backgrounds, including orphans and children deprived of parental care. The school offers them not only an academic education, but also emotional support, artistic and cultural activities, as well as a structured and caring environment essential to their personal and social development.
The auditorium quickly filled up, and the children present were able to laugh and be moved. The language barrier quickly disappeared thanks to JyJou's many talents, particularly in mime and magic.
This moment of shared happiness is further proof of the solidarity shown by French people who do not hesitate to cross Europe to support the Ukrainian people.
The next day, back in the capital for a final show, this time at the Lycée Français Anne de Kyiv. Nataliia was able to get some rest: there was no need for translation for these children, who may not all be French, but they are all French speakers. The kindergarten and CP classes were the guests of the day, for a show that was unfortunately interrupted by two ballistic alerts over the city of Kyiv, reminding everyone of the reality of war. This is also the daily life of Ukrainian children, even in the capital.
