Thanks to the donations we receive on a regular basis, we are able to continue our programme of creating children's libraries and toy libraries. The more we create, the more information about this programme circulates, and the more requests we receive. To maximise the impact, and because we don't have the resources to satisfy everyone, we give priority to centres that don't yet have books or games. This month, this has taken us to Ternivka, Smila and Berizky.
Depending on the location, we always adapt our selection according to the number of children hosted on site, their age and the time they can spend there. For example, in temporary facilities (shelters), where children only stay for a short time, we favour games that are quick and easy to set up. In full-time facilities, on the other hand, we choose games with more developed mechanics, allowing for longer, more rewarding activities.
We also take into account children's developmental levels, to encourage learning through play and enable them to discover the world in a fun way. We pay particular attention to the quality of the materials we use: the games we choose are colourful, well-designed, solid and durable, so they can withstand intensive use over several years. We avoid puzzles, which are often only suitable for a small number of children and whose pieces are easily lost or damaged.
Concernant les livres, ils sont systématiquement sélectionnés par notre partenaire l’éditeur Stary Lev (https://starylev.com.ua/about-us)based in Lviv, in whom we have complete confidence. Each reception centre received books adapted to the age and development level of the children present. Children with reading difficulties were given books with little text, a more readable format, larger type and attractive illustrations. Older children, particularly teenagers, received more complex books, such as more structured novels.
The number of books was determined according to the number of children who would benefit, with particular attention paid to older children, especially in the localities of Ternivka and Berizky. For this project, only books for children under the age of 12 were selected.
The books were delivered directly by Stary Levvia the Nova Poshta delivery service. The selection was made from the publisher's catalogue, in close collaboration with our dear friend Taya, whose advice is always very pertinent.
The games were chosen by our team, in collaboration with the professionals who look after the children in the various care centres.

All the books and games are now available to children in the classrooms, reading rooms and play areas.
