In Kherson, residents continue to live with a difficult reality: frequent and prolonged power cuts have become part of everyday life. In this city, which is regularly targeted by attacks, access to a simple source of light can become a challenge.
At the end of February, a new operation, financed by Élan de Solidarité Cotentin Ukraine and implemented on the ground by Union of Help to Kherson, has enabled us to distribute 377 Antiblack out kits to families facing repeated power cuts.
These Antiblack out kits have been designed to meet this very real need. Their aim is simple: to provide residents with a reliable lighting solution when the electricity network is interrupted. In a city where the infrastructure is regularly damaged, this type of equipment quickly becomes essential to maintain a minimum of normality in daily life.
Thanks to the funding received, 377 kits were purchased and distributed directly to residents in several areas of the city.
The distribution was organised in collaboration with housing associations and local communities, which identified the most urgent needs. In total, eight different districts were supplied, particularly in the districts of Dniprovskyi, Tavriiskyi and the centre of Kherson.
This approach makes it possible to draw on reliable local networks and ensure that aid reaches the people who need it most.
This operation illustrates how targeted humanitarian action can have an immediate impact. By working closely with local partners and responding to direct requests from communities, concrete aid can be delivered quickly to where it is needed most.
The feedback received after the distribution was very positive, confirming the importance of this type of simple but essential initiative to support civilians who continue to live in areas close to the front line.
