Delivering humanitarian aid to Kherson is a logistical and security challenge. In this regularly targeted town, the threat is constant: FPV drones prowl the streets and attack anything that might resemble a humanitarian convoy. They also target civilians on foot, ambulances and sometimes even buses, when there are any. With schools closed, there is no longer any school transport, but fear is omnipresent and affects every aspect of daily life.
High-voltage distribution
In this context, delivering aid is not only risky, it is also extremely complex. Distributions have to be organised in small groups of less than a dozen beneficiaries at a time, so as not to attract attention, arouse the curiosity of drones or alert enemy forces just a few kilometres away.
In practical terms, to deliver to more than 500 families, we need to set up nearly a hundred distribution points scattered around the city. It's a mammoth task, requiring infinite patience and meticulous coordination. But today it's the only way to guarantee the safety of beneficiaries and local teams alike.
550 cut-resistant kits
Despite these constraints, we were able to carry out a new operation. Thanks to our local operational partner Union of Help to Kherson (biz.ks.ua), and with the loyal support of JustAnswer (justanswer.com), an American tech/IA company based in California, we delivered 550 kits consisting of a high-intensity rechargeable battery, a rechargeable bulb and a small solar panel.
These kits provide a vital solution to the systematic power cuts caused by repeated strikes on power stations and energy infrastructure.
Continue for as long as it takes
Each kit distributed is a small victory, a demonstration of solidarity in an environment where everything complicates humanitarian action. We are proud to be able to continue these programmes, and we fully intend to maintain them for as long as necessary.
On our website, you will also find reports on all the operations we have carried out in Kherson over the last few years. Each delivery, each action is documented to demonstrate the resilience of the local people and the international commitment we have shown alongside them.
