We have just completed a programme that was particularly close to our hearts: the operational management of exceptional aid of almost 120,000 euros. provided by the City of Paris to the Lokomotyv football club in Kyiv.
This strong commitment illustrates Paris' solidarity with Kyiv and has given the club, which has been hard hit by the war, the means to get back on its feet and continue to welcome more than 700 children, many of them internally displaced.
In January 2024, a missile strike destroyed the club's main building, taking away its changing rooms, sports halls and doctor's surgery. Despite this tragedy, which claimed the life of an adult who had come to train, the club continued its mission to help young people in Kyiv.
The largest part of the budget was devoted to the purchase of a bus for the academy. This essential tool now enables the children to travel several times a week for their matches and training sessions. The bus, beautifully decorated in the colours of Lokomotyv and emblazoned with the logos of both towns, has become a powerful symbol of friendship and solidarity between our capitals.
This aid has also made it possible to finance a wide range of equipment, including heating for changing rooms and showers, balls, chasubles, shirts and cleats for children from disadvantaged families, as well as first-aid kits.
As well as providing infrastructure and equipment, the City of Paris was keen to include a psychological support component. With our local partners, we have launched a programme designed to help the children overcome war-related trauma, boost their confidence and regain emotional balance.
Thanks to Paris' commitment, Lokomotyv can continue to offer hundreds of children a more pleasant, stable and dignified sporting environment.
For us at The Small Projects Team, this partnership demonstrates that targeted, concrete and human aid can profoundly transform the lives of those who receive it. The trust placed in us by the City of Paris in us choosing as as an operational partner is proof and recognition of our professionalism and the quality of our technical and financial support.
