From a capital at war to the world championships
Brigantina Sports Club is located in Kiev. More than 2,000 children train at the club, including more than 20 internally displaced persons from the occupied territories, and many athletes are members of the national youth modern pentathlon team (swimming, running, shooting, fencing, horse jumping). Brigantina is the best team of young athletes in Ukraine in various categories (U9, U11, U13, U15, U17 and U19), its athletes occupy the best places in national championships, successfully represent Ukraine at international competitions, and are in the TOP-3 of the Ukrainian ranking in each age category.
The team
The club has seven young athletes in the Ukrainian national modern pentathlon team: Oleksandr Melnyk, Oleksandr Chernyshev, Oleksandr Klymenko, Sofia Urbanovich, Anna Dudka, Anastasiia Melnyk and Anna Babich. They are preparing for the European Championships in Lithuania and the World Championships in Egypt.
The coaches
The coaches (Anna Derkach, Ruslan Moseykin) are experienced athletes who are members of the Ukrainian national fencing and modern pentathlon teams.
In mid-March, fencing coach Oleksandr Panin was conscripted into the army on the Eastern front. We hope that he will return to the club as soon as possible to resume his training. This is the reality of war...
